The Manufacture Foundation and Maddy Maxey, Founder of Loomia are teaming up to create the NON-PROFIT Textile Futures Initiative. The TFI is meant to encourage research and development in the smart and sustainable fabric spaces. Our program will provide creative technologists with access to grant money to execute a create idea around textile innovation. We take inspiration from Bell Labs and google 20% time where we think skilled exploration can lead to amazing discoveries for smart fabrics. Our goal is to expand the program over the course of 5 years to be a resource for wearable tech R&D that funds itself through sponsorships and makes an impact on the wearable tech industry and creative tech alike.

”The fashion industry needs to do something to keep up. Students don’t get to see technology and know they can integrate it into garments. We need to be showing [the industry what] exists as wearable tech is the future.”
